Coral reefs are often described as “Underwater Gardens”. Their rainbow like colors, intricate shapes and exotic creatures create a rich habitat and support an amazing diversity of life. Like rain forests, reefs are a valuable resource and a play a vital role in the global echo system. Corals, because of their unique ability to grow in nutrient-poor water, are capable of building large structures (Coral reefs)that support incredible communities of fish and other marine life in waters that might otherwise have been barren. Millions of people all over the world depend on coral reefs for their daily needs of food and income. Although coral reefs are of great ecological and economic significance they are globally threatened. We must learn how to protect coral reefs for future generations.
